Iconic: Martin recently hit the headlines at last month’s NTA’s, when he seemingly refusing to applaud Joan Collins walking out to Celtic’s bitter rivals Rangers anthem

The Stud actress came onto the stage to Tina Turner’s classic track Simply the Best, which is the anthem that is played at the Ibrox stadium when Rangers walk out onto the pitch.

While fans and critics alike went on to slam the actors decision not to applaud.

One puzzled viewer wrote: ‘@martin_compston how come you didn’t stand for Joan Collins? That’s a bit disrespectful is it not.

Another wrote: ‘@martin_compston Just saw the Joan Collins entrance clip on TV this morning. Wonder why you didn’t get up…’

Even ITV host and fellow scot Lorraine Kelly admitted on her show she was baffled by the move.

Dame Joan quickly dismissed any hint of outrage of disrespect.

Taking to her social media she suggested the choice of Rangers fan favourite song Simply the Best might have been the reason why Hoops-daft Martin stayed in his seat.
